Mergem prin supermarket, la raionul de fructe-legume, şi vedem nişte autocolante mici lipite pe produse. Se numesc coduri „PLU” şi arată dacă fructul a fost crescut bio, cu îngrăşăminte chimice sau dacă a fost modificat genetic.Sunt stabilite deFederaţia Internaţională pentru Standardul Produselorşi sunt folosite din anul 1990.

Codurile PLU dincinci cifrepot începe cu cifra 8 sau cu cifra 9. Cele careîncep cu 8arată faptul că vegetalele respective au fostmodificate genetic. AŞADAR, SUNT DE EVITAT!

Dacă, în schimb,codul începe cu cifra 9, înseamnă că producţia a fost cultivată ecologic,decinatural, fără îngrăşăminte chimice.

Dacă un fruct are codul de pe autocolant format dinpatru cifre, înseamnă că a fost crescutconvenţional, adică s-au folosit îngrăşăminte chimice şi pesticide.

De exemplu:

O banană crescută în sistem convenţional va avea codul: 4011
O banană ecologică: 94011
O banană modificată genetic: 84011
